Academic Mission

The Bachelor of Arts in Development Economics program at Universal Technology and Management University (formerly Uganda Technology and Management University) provides a comprehensive understanding of economic principles applied to the challenges of development. Students explore theories of economic growth, poverty reduction, inequality, and the role of institutions in achieving sustainable development. The curriculum integrates quantitative and qualitative analytical methods to assess development policies and their impact. Core coursework covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and specialized topics such as agricultural economics, public finance, and international development. Graduates will be equipped with strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to roles in government agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector focused on economic policy and development initiatives.
