Academic Mission
The Diploma in Counselling Psychology program at Uganda Martyrs University provides foundational knowledge and practical skills in the theory and practice of psychological counseling. This program equips students with an understanding of human behavior, mental health principles, and therapeutic interventions. Coursework covers essential areas such as developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, ethical considerations in counseling, and various counseling techniques. Students will engage in supervised practical training to develop their abilities in client assessment, intervention, and case management. Upon completion, graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in mental health support services, community outreach programs, and educational institutions. Key skills developed include active listening, empathy, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making.
